Civil Rights Timeline

Civil Rights

This is a visually appealing infographic highlighting the milestones of the Civil Rights Movement. I like that the timeline goes back to before the Civil War as the Civil Rights Movement is often thought of as something that only occurred during the mid-1900s.

There are a few different ways this could be used in your instruction. The infographic could serve as a way to begin or summarize a series of lessons on the Civil Rights movement. Students could be asked to fill in gaps by doing their own research. They could then design their own graphics to add to the infographic. Alternatively, students could be asked to select one of the graphics and elaborate on it. They could provide more information on the event. Then, they could explain how that event contributed to the Civil Rights Movement, or tell why that event did not result in an expected breakthrough in the movement. Whatever you choose to do, I think there are a lot of options with this particular infographic.
