Voice Dream Reader – This app is a text to speech reader. The user, either the student or the teacher, uploads a document to the app. The app supports many document formats including PDF, Plain Text, MS Word, MS Power Point, Google Docs, Web Articles, and EPUB eBooks. Once the document is uploaded, the user selects the document. The user simply hits play, and the app will read the
document to the user. The app highlights as it reads, so the user can keep pace with the voice. The user can also touch on the words to have them spoken. This is helpful for beginners. http://www.voicedream.com/

Google Translate – The most useful thing about Google Translate is its flexibility. You can speak into the app, you can type into the app, you can draw using your finger or a stylus, or you can take a picture.
Google Translate will translate any of these into another language. Also, the breadth of languages is extremely impressive. Currently, Google Translate works with 103 languages. It doesn’t offer every feature for every language, but it is definitely a starting point. Because it offers so many means of translating, you can use it across content areas and levels. It is not limited by a content area or a level. I know Google Translate gets a bad reputation at times because it is not a perfect translation. If you goal is perfect translation, then this is not the most ideal tool. If you goal is understanding and comprehension, then it is a fabulous tool for your ELLs in the right situations. https://translate.google.com/
