Dr. Monica Beane, TSPC Executive Director, sent out a memo today to clarify the process for adding endorsements to licenses.

SUMMARY
Pre-service candidates:
* Licensure redesign did not change the process for adding endorsements to a Preliminary Teaching License.

Licensed Oregon Educators:
* For all Licensed educators – educators must complete a commission-approved program for the following endorsement areas: Art, Drama, Elementary-Multiple Subjects, English for Speakers of Other Languages (ESOL), Library Media, Music, Physical Education, Reading Intervention, Special Education (all areas), World Languages-Latin, World Languages-Russian, and World Languages-Japanese.

* For licensed educators holding a Preliminary Teaching License – the licensed educator must 1) take a content test; however, some endorsements permit completion of alternative coursework in lieu of the content test; 2) provide proof of pedagogy skills through completion of: a) Pedagogy Course: verified through official transcripts; or b) Supervised practicum: verified by a school district on a PEER form; or c) Program: Completing an optional endorsement program, verified through a program completion form provided by the institution.

*For licensed educators holding a Professional, Legacy or Teacher Leader license – generally, the licensed educator must just pass a test.  Some endorsements permit completion of alternative coursework in lieu of the content test.
