Slow Moving Millie – Please, Please, Please, Let Me Get What I Want

A very lovely song from Slow Moving Millie.

Enjoy

Album: Slow Moving Millie – Renditions (2011)

Blurb About the Album:

Chances are you’ve probably never heard of Slow Moving Millie, aka Amelia Warner, but you will have heard her cover of the Smiths’, ‘Please, Please, Please, Let Me Get What I Want’ thanks to this year’s John Lewis Christmas advert.

Catapulted to fame through one track is a mean feat for the 29-year-old, however her stage name gives an indication to the level at which she attacked her music career – slow and steady.

Following the Morrissey-approved track, her album Renditions does exactly what it says it should and offers her Ellie Goulding/folk tone to some of the 80s’ best-loved pop songs.
From Bananarama to Yazoo and Tears for Fears you’d be forgiven for thinking that this is an album of all her own work. Two listens later and you’ll realise how clever Warner has been, giving such famous tracks a new lease of life.

Granted it’s an album of covers – but if this is the kind of magic she can work on other people’s music we can wait to hear some of her own.
