At Pacific University, students have the opportunity to participate in a school practicum and cultural immersion experience in Auckland, New Zealand. Students will be immersed in learning about the New Zealand educational system and culture within schools, the community, and at homestays. While on your 3-week cultural immersion experience in New Zealand, students will also engage in weekly seminars with Pacific classmates.
The school practicum and cultural immersion experience in New Zealand will assist students in understanding and applying concepts and theories of language and literacy acquisition for the children in the New Zealand schools. Students will also experience the role of culture and cultural identity in constructing community learning environments, an understanding readily applied to American classroom settings.
