{"id":98,"date":"2016-09-01T14:50:23","date_gmt":"2016-09-01T21:50:23","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/wordpress.ed.pacificu.edu\/tspc\/?page_id=98"},"modified":"2016-09-01T14:50:23","modified_gmt":"2016-09-01T21:50:23","slug":"special-education-endorsement","status":"publish","type":"page","link":"https:\/\/wordpress.ed.pacificu.edu\/tspc\/faculty-resources\/endorsement-oars\/special-education-endorsement\/","title":{"rendered":"Special Education Endorsement"},"content":{"rendered":"<p align=\"justify\"><span class=\"TOFC_Header\"><b>584-220-0180<\/b><\/span><\/p>\n<p align=\"justify\"><span class=\"TOFC_Rules\"><b>Special Education: Generalist<\/b><\/span><\/p>\n<p align=\"justify\"><span class=\"History\">(1) Purpose: A Special Education: Generalist endorsement indicates that an educator is qualified to teach prekindergarten to grade 12 assignments in Special Education: Generalist as provided by TSPC Licensure Guide for Special Education: Generalist.<\/span><\/p>\n<p align=\"justify\"><span class=\"History\">(2) An educator is not authorized to teach in the endorsed area unless and until the endorsement is officially added to the license, except as provided in OAR 584-210-0170 Atypical Assignments and OAR 584-210-0160, License on Conditional Assignment.<\/span><\/p>\n<p align=\"justify\"><span class=\"History\">(3) To be eligible to add a Special Education: Generalist endorsement to an existing Preliminary Professional, Teacher Leader or Legacy teaching license, an applicant must:<\/span><\/p>\n<p align=\"justify\"><span class=\"History\">(a) Be admitted to and complete a Commission-approved Special Education: Generalist preparation program that meets the standards provided in OAR 584-420-0460 Special Education Endorsement: Program Standards.<\/span><\/p>\n<p align=\"justify\"><span class=\"History\">(A) The Commission-approved elementary multiple subjects examination is not required to obtain the license;<\/span><\/p>\n<p align=\"justify\"><span class=\"History\">(B) However, passage of the Commission-adopted Elementary\u2014 Multiple Subjects examination is required in order for special educators licensed to teach general education content in grades prekindergarten through 8 (elementary teachers) and to meet the federal definition of \u201chighly qualified\u201d teacher under the Elementary\/Secondary Education Act (ESEA); and<\/span><\/p>\n<p align=\"justify\"><span class=\"History\">(b) Submit a complete and correct application to obtain the endorsement in the form and manner required by the Commission, including payment of all required fees as provided in OAR 584-200-0050.<\/span><\/p>\n<p align=\"justify\"><span class=\"Rule_Number\"><b>Note<\/b>: Adding the endorsement at the time of renewal will not require an additional cost to add the licensure renewal process.<\/span><\/p>\n<p align=\"justify\"><span class=\"Rule_Title\">Stat.
