584-220-0010\u00a0<\/b><\/span>Endorsement on Teaching Licenses: General Provisions<\/b><\/span><\/p>\n

(1) Purpose of Teaching License Endorsements: The purpose of an endorsement on a teaching license is to indicate the subject areas (content knowledge) for which the educator is authorized to teach. New educators must meet the requirements for content and subject-specific pedagogical knowledge prior to adding an endorsement to an existing Preliminary Teaching License. Experienced educators must meet the Commission-established requirements for content knowledge prior to adding the endorsement to an existing Professional, Teacher Leader or Legacy Teaching Licenses. Only Commission-adopted endorsements may be added to teaching licenses. New endorsement may only be established through official Commission action at a meeting.
\n<\/span><\/p>\n

(2) Teaching endorsements may be added to the following teaching licenses:
\n<\/span>\u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0(a) Preliminary Teaching License;
\n<\/span>\u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0(b) Professional Teaching License;
\n<\/span>\u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0(c) Teacher Leader License; and
\n<\/span>\u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0(d) Legacy Teaching License.<\/span><\/p>\n

(3) Teaching endorsements may not be added to the following teaching licenses and registrations, except as noted:
\n<\/span>\u00a0 \u00a0 (a) American Indian Languages Teacher (May add another American Indian Language);
\n<\/span>\u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0(b) Charter school teacher registration;
\n<\/span>\u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0(c) Reciprocal Teaching License;
\n<\/span>\u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0(d) Restricted Teaching License;
\n<\/span>\u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0(e) Emergency Teaching License;
\n<\/span>\u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0(f) Limited Teaching License;
\n<\/span>\u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0(g) Career and Technical Education Teaching License (May add Career and Technical Education endorsements);
\n<\/span>\u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0(h) International Visiting Teaching License;
\n<\/span>\u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0(i) Substitute Teaching License (Already valid to teach any subject); and
\n<\/span>\u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0(j) Restricted Substitute Teaching License (Already valid to teach any subject);<\/span><\/p>\n

(4) Scope of Endorsements: The scope of the endorsement shall be determined by the National Center for Educational Statistics (NCES) course codes associated with the endorsement as provided by the TSPC Licensure Guide. An educator may only be assigned to teach courses within the scope of the endorsements on their license except as provided in OAR 584-210-0170, Atypical Assignments and OAR 584-210-0160, License on Conditional Assignment.<\/span><\/p>\n

(5) Removing an Endorsement: An educator may request to remove an endorsement from their license. It is the responsibility of the educator to understand all employment issues related to the removal of the endorsement. To remove an endorsement from a license, an educator must submit a correct and complete application for removal of the endorsement in the manner and form required by the Commission, including all required fees as provided in OAR 584-200-0050. Once removed, the educator must meet all current endorsement requirements in order to add back the endorsement.<\/span><\/p>\n

(6) The Commission approved general education endorsements for teaching licenses are:
\n<\/span>\u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0(a) Advanced Mathematics;<\/a>
\n<\/span>\u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0(b) Agricultural Science;
\n<\/span>\u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0(c) Art;<\/a>
\n<\/span>\u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0(d) Biology;<\/a>
\n<\/span>\u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0(e) Business: Generalist;<\/a>
\n<\/span>\u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0(f) Business: Marketing;<\/a>
\n<\/span>\u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0(g) Career Trades: Generalist (formerly Technology Education);
\n<\/span>\u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0(h) Chemistry;<\/a>
\n<\/span>\u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0(i) Drama;<\/a>
\n<\/span>\u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0(j) Elementary \u2013 Multiple Subjects (formerly Multiple Subjects Self-Contained);<\/a>
\n<\/span>\u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0(k) English Language Arts;<\/a>
\n<\/span>\u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0(l) English to Speakers of Other Languages (ESOL);<\/a>
\n<\/span>\u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0(m) Family and Consumer Studies;
\n<\/span>\u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0(n) Foundational English Language Arts (formerly Middle School Language Arts);<\/a>
\n<\/span>\u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0(o) Foundational Mathematics (formerly Basic Math);<\/a>
\n<\/span>\u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0(p) Foundational Science (formerly Middle School Science);<\/a>
\n<\/span>\u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0(q) Foundational Social Studies (formerly Middle School Social Studies);<\/a>
