My summative assessment comes in the form of a generic chapter test: LA Block 1 – Form A. Half of it is comprised of selected response, the other half being short answer. This test is prescribed as part of the curriculum of the school, so I dont have a lot of room to adjust it. It is, however, a pretty good test for measuring the base knowledge of the concepts.
As a pre-assessment to gauge students knowledge entering the unit I took the selected response questions from form B of their block test. (Pre-Test) To provide students a more accurate response option I included a choice “e” which is “have not seen this type of question before.”
As summative assessment I have assigned practice questions from the book or provided a practice activity for the skills covered each day. This will act as a measure of the day to day progress of students, and help regulate my pacing through the concepts. I also plan to have student do exit/entrance writes throughout the unit to help gauge students’ affect toward the lessons and their perceived ability with the skills.
Devin,
Please reread the prompt for this component. You have done part of it (the more traditional part). Read the second bullet where you are to create a project based assessment and indicate how you applied the information from the website. THis will allow you to connect Component 1 to this component.
